Court Acquits 2 Men of Human Trafficking in Strawberry Shooting Case

The two men who were accused of human trafficking in the shooting of immigrant strawberry pickers case, were acquitted yesterday after the decision of Supreme Court deputy public prosecutor Nikos Paraskevaidis not to appeal the verdict of the court of first instance. The court of appeals of Patras had acquitted the two men on charges of grave bodily harm in the case of shooting several migrant strawberry pickers in Manolada, Greece. However, they had faced charges of human trafficking. The court had also sentenced the two Manolada farmers for shooting the workers, causing grave bodily harm. The two men who were responsible for the shootings were sentenced to seven years and 14 years imprisonment respectively. The two farmers made an appeal and will be tried again. After the deputy public prosecutor’s decision, the two men are free of human trafficking charges and will not be tried again.
