Police Officer Murdered While Trying to Stop Burglery

A police officer lost his life in the city Andravida, southwestern Greece, while he was trying to prevent a burglary on Sunday. The 35 year-old police officer, father of two, despite being off duty, tried to arrest the thief as soon as he took notice of the break-in attempt. The thief stabbed him with a knife and also slightly injured the house owner. The injured police man was immediately rushed to the hospital of Amaliada but doctors couldn’t save his life. Local police authorities launched an operation in order to locate the offender. A 30 year-old man,whose identity hasn’t been made public, is being detained by the police as a suspect.
