Strikers brought Greece to a standstill one day early to protest the government's austerity cuts

Much of Greece was brought to a standstill yesterday by a strike by taxi drivers, transport workers, doctors and journalists. They walked out on the eve of a two-day national stoppage today and tomorrow in protest at cuts.
