Merkel’s spokesman, Steffan Seibert, said that the chancellor was accepting the invitation to visit Greece extended to her by Samaras when he visited Berlin in August.
It will be Merkel's first visit to Greece as chancellor.
Seibert said the situation in Greece and the eurozone will be on the agenda.
