Exhibition on Rhodes; The Melting Pot of Civilizations

The exhibition entitled “Rhodes: A Greek island at the gates of the East” will be inaugurated on Friday, July 10, at the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes and will run until November 15, displaying unique artifacts of great archaeological interest. Rhodes is not only world-famous for its Colossus, one of the Seven wonders of the Ancient World, and the Knights of Saint John in the Middle Ages. The Greek island is also known for its important role as a trading hub and meeting point for different civilizations, as well as a getaway to the East since ancient times. This fabulous exhibition, covering Rhodian art from the Bronze Age to the Archaic period, will be the indisputable proof. According to a relevant announcement made by the Greek Culture Ministry, the artifacts, which have been imported from Cyprus, Syria, the Near East but also from eastern Greek cities, highlight the pivotal role of Rhodes in transferring elements of the great Eastern civilizations to the Greek culture.
