3rd Ministerial Meeting between Greece, Albania, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (Thessaloniki, 3-4 May 2018)

The Third Ministerial Meeting between Greece, Albania, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will take place on Thursday and Friday, 3-4 May, in Thessaloniki, with the participation of the respective Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior, and Transport.Talks between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs will focus on issues of common interest, with an emphasis on recent developments in the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean and their impact on the Balkan region; the prospects of accession of the Western Balkan countries; the Future of Europe and the strengthening of cooperation to execute common planning in the region.In parallel meetings, the Ministers of Transport will examine ways of strengthening and upgrading connectivity between the road and rail networks of the participating countries. Similarly, the four Ministers of Interior will delve into issues of cross-border cooperation, with an emphasis on police cooperation, cross-border crime and fire protection.Greece will be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, N. Kotzias, who will be chairing the proceedings, as well as by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, C. Spirtzis, and the Alternate Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection, N. Toskas.Minister of Foreign Affairs, N. Kotzias, is expected to give a press conference upon conclusion of the proceedings, on Friday 4 May.
