Anarchists Evacuate Athens Law School Sit-in

A group of anarchists who were on a sit-in for the sixth consecutive day at the Athens Law School in downtown Athens, peacefully evacuated the premises after a no-arrest order was issued by the Alternate Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection Giannis Panousis. The order to riot police squads was not to take actions while the anarchists are exiting the Athens Law School premises and after hour-long negotiations the group of 20 evacuated the building. At the same time, another group of anarchists was waiting for them in solidarity outside the building. It should be noted that on Friday, March 13, some 150 anarchist occupied Athens Law School demanding the release of November 17 convicted member Savvas Xeros from prison, for health reasons, as he is 98% disabled, the abolition of “Type-C” maximum security prison facilities, the repeal of anti-terrorism laws, as well as the immediate release of relatives of detainees involved with the Conspiracy of Fire Cells. Savvas Xeros, was found guilty for five assassinations, armed robberies, bomb plannings and for participating in Greece’s largest urban guerilla organization, “November 17.” He was sentenced to five consecutive life sentences plus an additional 25 years.
