79 Flu-Related Deaths in Greece

The flu continues to spread rapidly in Greece. According to the latest epidemiological data from the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) flu-related deaths now stand at 79. The victims belonged to high-risk groups and hadn’t been vaccinated against the flu. The specialists said that most of the affected patients are suffering from chronic diseases and haven’t been vaccinated against the flu. They also stressed that seasonal flu is tailing off but will probably last until late March. As of yesterday, 52 patients were hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU) because of flu-related complications. Moreover, since the outbreak of the crisis at the beginning of the year, about 213 flu cases have been transferred to hospital ICUs. KEELPNO experts suggest the timely administration of antiviral medication, which is available for free from hospital pharmacies.
