Teammates Jonas Maciulis, (L) and James Gist of Panathinaikos Athens make sure their team gets the ball during this tussle with a Red Star player from Belgrade, Serbia on Nov 1.
Greece's Greens came from 15 points down to beat Red Star Belgrade in Serbia 90-86 in overtime to pick up its second win in three games in the Euroleague.
Nikos Pappas, a former youth star who was recently signed by the club, scored a team-high 24 points in a sterling performance. That offset bad nights by the usual stars, Dimitris Diamantidis, Antonis Fotsis and Roko Ukic.
The Greek side had to put up with 10,000 roaring Serbian fans cheering on their team, which took a 48-33 halftime lead.
Panathinaikos opened the third period with 12 straight points to quickly close the gap but the Reds went up by 14 early in the fourth quarter before the strong comeback by the Greeks team, propelled by Pappas and Maciulis, who scored 16 points, who triggered a 23-5 run to force overtime.
