Roger Federer 100 not out but still hungry for elusive Olympic gold
Dream of becoming the Olympic tennis champion six days before his 39th birthday is what keeps the Swiss great going Roger Federer did more than win his 100th Tour-level tournament when he handed the Greek prodigy Stefanos Tsitsipas (his conqueror in the fourth round of the Australian Open two months ago) a 6-4, 6-4 tennis lesson in the 69-minute final of the Dubai tournament. He encouraged hope among his followers that, five months shy of his 38th birthday, he can still deliver the thrills they crave. He always was more than a tennis player. For most of his 22 years as a professional, Federer has been a messiah, and rarely a naughty boy. He has been the shimmering image of near-perfection, on and off the court. He says all the right things and in the right order, in five languages if required. He can do no wrong, even when he does. Continue reading...

Shocking statement from government MP: "We must solve our problems with an honest compromise as we did with 'Northern Macedonia'"
Brief Statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Katrougalos at the conclusion of his contacts during the first day of his visit to the People's Republic of China (Beijing, 04 March 2019)
“From all these contacts, both with my counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as with the head of Foreign Relations of the Communist Party of China, and the economy ministers, the Minister of Commerce, the head of the crucially important Planning Commission of China, the conclusion drawn is dual in nature: First of all that Greece and China are seriously investing in their bilateral strategic partnership. This is not occasional, it has as its guide the “One Belt One Road” initiative which the Chinese government is promoting at the moment, but there is a significant alignment of interests, precisely because we too endeavour that our country becomes a bridge between Europe, Asia, and Africa. The second thing that was affirmed is the observation that Greece has exited the economic crisis and offers significant opportunities for investment to the Chinese side. We discussed how this possibility will be reflected realistically in practice, and for the contacts to continue both in the private sector, and chiefly for this momentum to pay off in practice.”
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick meets with Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water, Vangelis Haritatos.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick met with Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water, Vangelis Haritatos, who visited Greece at the invitation extended by the Deputy Minister during their meeting in Harare last November, which represented the first visit by a Greek minister to that country in 46 years. Mr Haritos is the first second-generation Greek to undertake a Ministerial portfolio in Zimbabwe. Talks between the two deputy ministers revolved around issues related to the very dynamic Greek community there, as well as to the activity of the Greece-Zimbabwe Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The opportunities that arise in Zimbabwe for strengthening the outward-looking nature of the Greek economy and Greek companies were also discussed at the Ministry of Agriculture, with Minister Stavros Arachovitis. Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water noted, among other things, that due to the large number of scheduled projects related to infrastructure, agriculture, livestock breeding, water, and tourism, his country is amenable to welcoming Greek companies that are active in the fields of construction of motorways, small and large roadworks, ports, dams, residential complexes etc. In addition, the special interest presented by the fields of standardisation of agricultural and livestock products was stressed, as well as of conveying the related technology from Greek institutions of higher learning.
