European elections 2019: first exit polls published ahead of results – live

Latest elections news from across EU member states, including the UK which is taking part after Brexit negotiations stalled * Final votes cast as EU awaits parliamentary election results * What the UK pollsters are forecasting 7.25pm BST Government officials in Greece are down playing exit polls which indicate that the main opposition New Democracy party has emerged with an 8.5 point lead over Syriza, the governing party. Five TV channels have reported the result since ballot boxes closed at 7pm local time, estimating that New Democracy is projected to win between 32.5– 34.5% of the vote compared to 24 – 26% of the vote for leftist Syriza.
