Two-day conference on the “Policy Principles and proposals on forging a Strategy for the exercise of Religious and Ecclesiastical Diplomacy” (MFA 28/02-01/03)

On Thursday 28 February and Friday 1 March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organising a two-day conference on the “Policy Principles and proposals on mapping out a Strategy for the exercise of Religious and Ecclesiastical Diplomacy.” More than 40 speakers from religious/ecclesiastical organisations active in Greece are due to participate in the event. The first day’s sessions will focus on inter-orthodox relations, with speakers/representatives of the Orthodox Church. The second day’s sessions will revolve around issues of interfaith diplomacy, with speakers/representatives of other dogmas and religions which are present in Greece. Upon commencement of the proceedings of the two-day conference, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will give an opening address, as well as His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Katrougalos, the Associate General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, Fr. Prof. Ioan Sauca and the General Secretary of the Conference of European Churches, Heikki Huttunen. The event will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kranidiotis Amphitheatre, 1 Akadimias Street) Admittance shall be reserved to guests with an invitation.
