Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick had a working meeting at his office today with the President of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne, Bill Papastergiadis, in which they exchanged views on the preparation of the Greece-Cyprus-Egypt NOSTOS Programme, to be held in Melbourne on 25-26 March. “I am especially pleased that NOSTOS III, this very successful and important trilateral cooperation between Greece, Cyprus, and Egypt, will be held in the third largest city as regards numbers of Greek residents. It is noteworthy that a large Community is undertaking to host it, with its President, our friend Bill Papastergiadis, along with the members of the Board of Directors and their colleagues.” stated Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Quick following the meeting, adding: “The program was being prepared by our three embassies in Canberra, along with our diplomats in Melbourne, and we shall be in a position to announce it by the end of February.” With regard to the “NOSTOS III” Programme, the Deputy Minister also briefed the President of the Republic, Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, who on Friday afternoon received Mr. Quick at the Presidential Mansion, along with Mr. Papastergiadis. The President of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne briefed Mr. Pavlopoulos on the significant initiatives undertaken by Australia's Greek Community with regard to actions pertaining to the promotion of our culture and the Greek language, which will reach a climax this weekend with all Diaspora Organisations, and indeed in Melbourne with the contribution of the government of the State of Victoria. Finally, the Deputy Minister invited Mr. Papastergiadis to the event that took place at the Hellenic Parliament to award students of the Greek Diaspora who received awards during the competition announced by the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad with a subject a short story in Greek. Among the students to receive an award was Ariadni Politi from Melbourne, Australia.
