Australian Open security wouldn't let Roger Federer into the locker room without his ID

Source: ftw.usatoday.com - Saturday, January 19, 2019 Roger Federer just wanted to go to the men’s locker room. The 20-time Grand Slam champ didn’t have a match Saturday in the Australian Open, so he went to Melbourne Park for a practice session, per the Associated Press . But apparently it doesn’t matter how famous or accomplished you are to the tournament’s security team, because as Federer tried to enter the locker room, he was denied because he didn’t have his proper credentials. So one of the most popular athletes in the world and the winner of the most Grand Slam titles in men’s singles history patiently waited until someone from his team came over with the correct identification. There's always that one friend in the group who's 37-years-old and still getting ID'd. #AusOpen #sleepisfortheweak pic.twitter.com/mmviC3cCqD — #AusOpen (@AustralianOpen) January 19, 2019 Hey, rules are rules at the Australian Open, and security does not care if you’ve won the tournament six times, including in the last two years. You’re not getting in without your credentials. Federer, the No. 3 ranked player in the world right now, is schedule to play Greece’s No. 14-seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round of the Grand Slam on Sunday evening in Melbourne, which puts the start time at 3 a.m. ET.
