Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs I. Amanatidis’ address at the signing of the cooperation agreement between the Hellenic National Commission of UNESCO and the social solidarity and assistance network (MFA, 21 June 2018)

“The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation by Ms. Ekaterini Tzitzikosta, President of the Hellenic National Commission of UNESCO, and Mr. Pentzos, President of the social solidarity and assistance network, is a significant event and, through my presence, I want to stress the importance of volunteering and of the activities of the Hellenic National Commission of UNESCO.Volunteering, also in the context of corporate social responsibility, which businesses do have, provides significant help in dealing with the problems faced by local communities, and especially in Thessaloniki. These safety nets, wherever they may be located, should be strengthened. Over the past 8 years, these difficult years, our country has stood fast thanks to the efforts of Greek citizens, but also thanks to the solidarity networks developed either by local governments or by social solidarity networks and, of course, the Church.Today coincides with Greece’s exit from supervision, the end of the programmes, adjustment of the debt, and turning over a new leaf for our country. Therefore, this coincidence, Madam President and Mr President, is a happy one. Finally, I would like to congratulate you and Ms. Tzitzikosta on this initiative of yours."
