Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Amanatidis, meets with representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Amanatidis, had a working meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today with the Regional Director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Dr. Missiri, the head of the IFRC Office in Greece, Ruben Cano, and the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Mission, Regis Savioz, who were accompanied by the new President of the Hellenic Red Cross, Ambassador Alexandris.The officials of the two organizations expressed their support for the Greek government and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in their work, and their wishes for continued smooth cooperation, with the assistance of the new President of the Hellenic Red Cross.Mr. Amanatidis assured his interlocutors of the Greek government’s firm commitment to the full and proper implementation of Humanitarian Law in Greece, which is demonstrating its sensitivity to this issue and its tireless efforts to manage the migration crisis with respect for fundamental human rights.The meeting also looked at further ways to enhance the ongoing cooperation with humanitarian organizations of recognized standing, such as the IFRC and ICRC, and to deal with issues related to these organizations’ activities in Greece.
