UN Migration Agency Says Mediterranean 'By Far The World's Deadliest Border'

According to the United Nations migration agency on Friday, more than 33,000 migrants died at sea in an attempt to reach Europe this century — making the Mediterranean "by far the world's deadliest border,” Reuters reported. After high amounts of arrivals from 2014 to 2016, the European Union’s agreement with Turkey to curb migrant arrivals from Greece, and bolster patrols off Libya’s cost greatly reduced the amount of migrants embarking on the journey, the International Organization for Migrantion (IOM) said.
