Magnitude 5.3 Earthquake Rattles Crete

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake rattled the island of Crete in Greece late on Saturday. The quake occured at 11:30 p.m. local time off the coast of Ierapetra on the southern part of the island, at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Three aftershocks of magnitude 3.5 followed.
