As Trump cracks down on refugees, an Oscar nominated documentary goes to the frontline of the Syrian crisis

This week, as U.S. President Donald Trump readies a plan to dramatically restrict refugee admissions to the United States, Greek-American filmmaker Daphne Matziaraki got an Oscar nomination for her short documentary 4.1 Miles. Shot on the waters off the island of Lesbos, the film follows a Greek Coast Guard captain as he rescues refugees from the sea.
