N. KOTZIAS: We opted to have this meeting in Rhodes because of the island’s long history. The first Israelo-Palestinian meetings, an armistice agreement and international Middle East conferences aimed at finding a solution to the issue back in the 1940s were actually held here, in Rhodes. Moreover, there were many meetings with regard to this region back in the 1950s, the 1970s and the start of the 1980s.
