Lesvos: where holiday paradise and refugee crisis converge

Despite their own economic woes, the inhabitants of the Greek holiday island are generously caring for the boatloads of people fleeing SyriaOn the Greek island of Lesvos, two worlds are colliding. Every day this summer, holidaymakers are confronted with the fallout from bloody civil wars as sunrise brings boatloads of refugees to the beaches of Europe.During my seven years with UNHCR, I have found myself working in refugee camps in Ethiopia, Jordan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
