A House in the Rock with a View of the Aegean Sea

Greek architects Laertis-Antonios Vasiliou and Pantelis Kampouropoulos have designed a house inside a rock with a view of the Aegean Sea. The two architects are the owners of OPA (Open Platform for Architecture) and their ambitious project, Casa Brutale, has gained international attention. The Casa Brutale project, the two architects say, is a geometric interpretation of the environment and a “naked” statement about simplicity and harmony of modern architecture and the chameleon-like nature of the space where we live. The house will be built using glass, cement and wood. Vasiliou and Kampouropoulos are optimistic that Casa Brutale is not an architect’s fantasy but they can make it a reality on an island in Greece. The two architects say their inspiration came from Casa Malaparte, a house on the edge of a rock on Capri island in Italy that is considered one of the country’s most important modern buildings.
