Matala Beach Festival in Crete Ready to Kick Off

Matala Beach Festival will take place in an atmosphere full of music and fun in Matala, Crete, from Friday, June 19, to Sunday, June 21, with the participation of many Greek and foreign artists. The festival will also include creative activities such as theater and other workshops, as well as activities for children. Matala is a small seaside village famous its beach at the southern coast of Crete. Matala beach has been inhabited since ancient times and became famous as a place where hippies would camp out in the 60s and 70s. In the past, Matala used to be a fishing village, while today its inhabitants make due through tourism. Several famous Greek and international artists will entertain the public during the three-day festival, performing on 3 separate stages. The festival has no entrance fee. Lakis Papadopoulos, Nikos Ziogalas, Giannis Giokarinis, French band Dub Incorporation, Imam Baildi, Nikos Portokaloglou, Isaiah Matiaba, Myron Stratis, Kostas Bigalis, Polina and Tonis Sfinos will create a multifaceted program that will keep the audience dancing all day and night. Furthermore, the festival will include new dynamic performers such as Alone Together, Everdie, Mojo Tooth, Sbaraquack and Alan Dalon that will give their own touch to the concerts. The ultimate sunset and sunrise soundtracks will be provided by tributes to artists such as the Doors and Pink Floyd, while the organizers have planned for several upbeat dj sets.
