4.4 Magnitude Quake Strikes Greek Island of Kefalonia

A 4.4-magnitude earthquake has struck on the western Greek island of Kefalonia, the Athens Geodynamic Institute reported. The tremor occurred at 4:04 p.m. local time on Tuesday, with its epicenter 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) beneath the island’s surface. No damage or casualties have been reported. A 5.7-magnitude earthquake in January 2014 caused widespread damage on the island, leaving hundreds homeless for days as buildings suffered severe damage and more than a dozen people were injured.
