Greece’s main opposition party, New Democracy (ND), in an announcement on Tuesday referred to “the need of the Greek government to abandon its populism and to proceed to great consensus.” ND spokesman Costas Karagounis accused the SYRIZA-ANEL government of “nonsense and irresponsible statements that foresee disaster” underlining that officials “very easily say that they will not pay the country’s economic obligations, meaning that they will provoke a credit event and forget that if this happens in a month they will not be able to pay anything.” Karagounis reiterated ND’s request for change of policy as prerequisite for consensus noting that “now that the lies end, the government has the opportunity to abandon its populism and to have the opportunity as a country to proceed with the great consensus.” (source: ana-mpa)
