European Short Film Festival FILME to Take Place in Thessaloniki

Young artists will have the opportunity to present their work and distinguish themselves at the European Short Film Festival FILME that will take place in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, for the fourth consecutive year, from May 28 to 31. The festival organizers invite young artists aged between 18 and 44 to participate in the event that each year honors an accomplished director and an actor who have made their mark in the film industry. Greek director Manousos Manousakis and actor Yannis Stankoglou will be this year’s honorees. Manousakis is a well-known Greek director, producer and writer. He was born in 1950 and studied at the London Film School. He has produced valuable work for Greek television. Stankoglou is a Greek actor, born in 1974. He studied at Giorgos Kimoulis’ Modern Theatre of Athens Drama School and moved to New York for a few years, before returning to Greece. He has had a remarkable career in theater, TV and films. FILME 2015 is organized with the support of the Central Macedonia Region, EuropeDirect, the Municipal Library of Thessaloniki and the Greek Directors Guild, as well as with the cooperation of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) Film Department. During the European Short Film Festival, visitors will also have the chance to enjoy various activities, exhibitions, workshops and cultural events, simulating the young people’s need to create and promote a constructive dialogue between artists. The entire event will take place in downtown Thessaloniki and admission will be free.
