Amphipolis Tomb Opening Delayed

The Greek Deputy Culture Minister Nikos Xydakis, sent a formal document to the Greek Parliament noting that Greek authorities will first ensure the protection of the Amphipolis Tomb and then find ways to promote and highlight its cultural significance. Furthermore, the deputy minister noted that the uncovering of such a significant archaeological and historical monument value creates obligations for its preservation, protection and restoration. “The Casta Tomb in Amphipolis is a monument that has been buried since a few years after its construction.” “This means that we should make the issue of its protection a priority and then find ways to showcase it, along with the Amphipolis archaeological site and museum, as well as the landscape and natural environment in Serres,” stated Xydakis.
