4.1Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Ionian Sea in Greece

A 4.1-magnitude underwater earthquake struck the Ionian Sea in Greece shortly after 9:30 am on Friday, according to the National Observatory of Athens. The quake’s epicenter was located in the seabed, some 94 kilometers southwest of Argostoli, Kefalonia. There were no reports of injuries or damage. In January 2014, a series of strong earthquakes on the island of Kefalonia damaged hundreds of homes and injured more than a dozen people. Earthquakes have historically caused widespread damage across central and southern Greece, Cyprus, Sicily and other neighboring regions.
