Tsochatzopoulos’ Former Wife Vicky Stamatis Escapes from Psychiatric Hospital

Guards at Athens’ psychiatric institution “Dromokaiteion,” realized early Thursday morning that Vicky Stamatis, the ex-wife of also jailed former Greek Defence Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos had escaped from the premises. The room where she was held was found empty and signs of a breaking window alarmed Greek authorities who are looking for her in Athens. Vicky Stamati was initially jailed in Athens’ central prison, but was later transferred to the mental institution as doctors found she suffers from mental problems including severe depression. Stamatis has been accused of money laundering and she had asked repeatedly to be released, but all her petitions ware denied.
