Tsipras Launches Series of Meetings with Top European Officials Over Debt

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras launches a series of meetings this week with top European officials in light of the crucial negotiations over Greece’s bailout. After the devaluation of Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis by his European counterparts ahead of Monday’s Eurogroup, it is very unlikely that there will be an agreement. Thereby Tsipras is taking it upon himself to negotiate on a political level. Most important will be his meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker which will most probably take place on Wednesday, when Tsipras will be in Brussels. Otherwise the two men will meet before the European Summit on March 19-20. On Thursday the Greek prime minister will speak at the OECD conference about the Greek reforms and he will have an official meeting with the Secretary General of the organization, Angel Gurria.
