Greek Justice Minister: Golden Dawn Trial May be Delayed

In an interview with private radio Vima FM, Justice Minister Nikos Paraskevopoulos said on Wednesday that, due to understaffing problems, the trial of far right Golden Dawn deputies might be delayed. “This delay may result in the release of the deputies, when the maximum period for holding someone without trial expires,” Paraskevopoulos added. It should be noted that the public prosecutors handling the Golden Dawn case recommended on Monday that the party’s leader Nikos Mihaloliakos and GD deputy Christos Pappas be released on March 29, when the 18-month period of temporary detention ends. Michaloliakos and Pappas are facing charges of leading and participating in a criminal organization, in connection with Golden Dawn’s actions. (source: Vima FM)
