Greek Finance Ministry to Extend Settlement Scheme to Debts Expiring Dec. 31, 2014

The Greek finance ministry on Friday announced that a new measure for the settlement of overdue debts to the state will include debts whose due date expired on December 31, 2014. The ministry has also announced that the new settlement schemes will either totally abolish or substantially raise the current cap of 1.0 million euros in order for debts to be eligible for the 100-installment settlement scheme, as well as simplified eligibility procedures. In a further clarification, the finance ministry said that notes sent by the General Secretariat for Public Revenues to debtors came from the automated system, which automatically sends identical notes throughout the 100-installment period without needing any order to do so.
