by NEOnline | KT Hours after Greece sent a request for extending Athens' programme even before it is discussed in the Eurogroup on Friday, German Finance Ministry spokesman Martin Jaeger said that the request sent today by the new Greek government "is not a substantial proposal for a solution." He says that it amounts to a request "for bridge financing without fulfilling the demands of the ) programme." According to Jaeger the letter from Greece doesn't correspond to criteria agreed Monday by the eurogroup, the group of 19 countries that uses the euro. Earlier, the European Commission spokesman, Margaritis Schinas, "President Juncker sees this letter as a positive sign, which, in his assessment, could pave the way for a reasonable compromise in the interest of the financial stability in the euro area as a whole," "The detailed assessment of the letter and the response is now up to the Eurogroup," he added
