European Parliament Delegation to Visit Archaeological Dig at Amphipolis

An official delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education is to visit the Amphipolis archaeological site in 2015, it was announced on Tuesday. The visit was decided following proposals made by the Greek MEPs George Grammatikakis (Potami) on behalf the Socialists and Democrats group and Theodoros Zagorakis (ND) on behalf of the European Peoples’ Party. The delegation will include MEPs and political staff of all the political groups, as well as high-ranking EuroParliament officials. The two proposals were approved during Monday’s sessions of the EuroParliament’s CULT committee political group coordinators, who agreed to a visit to the excavations underway at the Kasta Tumulus in the Amphipolis site, Greece, within 2015 as an official European Parliament mission.
