Venizelos Unveils Five-Pillar Strategy at TIF

In a press conference in Thessaloniki, Greece, on Sunday, held in the context of the city’s 79th International Fair (TIF), government Vice-President, Foreign Minister and PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos underlined that the sacrifices of the Greek people should not go to waste and the country back to zero. Venizelos further mentioned that the next few months, until the election of the President of the Republic, will be a critical period for the future of the country. He lashed out against the tactics of main opposition SYRIZA party, accusing them of opportunism and destructive policies concerning the country’s future. When asked to evaluate Antonis Samaras as a Prime Minister, PASOK’s leader avoided the question by talking about an “honest collaboration” between his party and the PM’s conservative New Democracy, “two completely different political entities.” Venizelos unveiled a five-pillar national strategy that includes: Exit from the memorandum, political and institutional stability, coming together of the country’s creative forces to raise employment, support for vulnerable groups and the country’s return to substantive self-reliance. As regards to the announcements made yesterday by Samaras during the inauguration of the 79th TIF, Venizelos noted that an agreement between them, on everything and in detail, had proceeded. He underlined that reductions on the unified property tax (ENFIA) will be noticeable in the case of apartments that have no electricity and are untenanted.
