Samaras: Greece Does not Need Additional Loans

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras rules out any discussion on the possibility of a third memorandum in an interview with “Real News” Sunday newspaper. Samaras stated that the country does not want additional loans and the Troika will leave after the end of the current bailout program. He also said that this is a result of debt restructuring, the plan’s effectiveness to re-enter the international markets, fiscal consolidation which will allow tax reliefs to start this year, as well as settlements between banks and debtors. The Prime Minister said “Greece does not need additional loans! And would not sign a ‘new memorandum’ for money it does not need. After the end of the program the Troika will leave, as it happened in Ireland and Portugal. What matters, is the program to end and Greece to return to normal.”
