Exhibition on the Brides of Nafplio

A bride’s dress is an article of clothing that every woman desires and is likely to never forget. Wedding dresses usually take a lot of effort and time to make, in order for women to feel content and comfortable on their big day. An exhibition entitled “ Brides: Tradition and Fashion in Greece ”, taking place in the town of Nafplio, depicts the story behind various wedding dresses throughout Greek history and is organized by the Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation. Visitors have the chance to walk through various wedding dresses from the mid-19th to early 21th century. There is a total of 103 dresses, more than 35 of which are exhibited for the first time. While walking through the exhibits, visitors can see the evolution of Greek fashion throughout the years, since the designs and decorative items vary depending on the period in which they were sewn. The exhibition will run until November 9 and it is part of the 40-year anniversary celebrations since the founding of the Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation on the occasion of the annual meeting of the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Costume.
