Public Sector Employees Don’t Know How to Use Computers

According to data released by Greek newspaper “Ta Nea”, public sector employees are computer illiterate. In fact, more than half (64%) admitted that they don’t know how to send emails, so they prefer to deal with handwritten documents. Furthermore, only 25% of public servants can speak English, while a mere 5.3% speak French and 3.3% German. After the data was released, Greek Minister of Administrative Reform and E-Governance Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that these numbers are not satisfying and that the “profile” of Greek public sector employees does not meet the needs of the people or the sector. Mitsotakis is planning to reform the public sector and make it more efficient.
