Frankfurt says on its website that the former Borussia Dortmund striker suffered a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The injury occurred in a tussle for the ball with Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez in the 54th minute. Frankfurt coach Thomas Schaaf says, "It's very unlucky. This will really hurt us." Valdez joined Frankfurt in the offseason following a loan spell at Greek side Olympiakos. He has made 67 appearances for Paraguay.
