Ranieri to Become the New Coach of Greece’s National Team?

The former coach of Chelsea, Claudio Ranieri is said to be the new coach of the Greek national football team, replacing Fernando Santos. The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) has been on the lookout for a new coach for the Greek national football team, as the current coach Santos decided not to renew his contract after the 2014 World Cup, ending his successful four-year tenure on Greece’s bench. Rumor has it that the Italian coach Claudio Ranieri is the frontrunner for the post, as his successful career with important football teams has impressed EPO officials. The 62-year-old Ranieri has coached some major teams such as Juventus, Roma, Inter, Atletico Madrid and Valencia. He was also Chelsea’s coach from 2000 to 2004, while his last post was with Monaco. Ranieri wants to enrich his career by managing a national team and he seems eager to be in charge of Greece’s team. As Greece’s coach he will have the minimum requirement to secure the team’s qualification for the UEFA Euro 2016. EPO officials will be exhausting their options and decide Santos’ replacement in early fall, after the end of the World Cup. The Greek national team is in Group C of the organization, competing with Colombia, Ivory Coast and Japan.
