Katerina Nikolaidou held on to her title as the European rowing champion in the lightweight women’s single sculls category at the European Rowing final in Belgrade, Serbia on June 1st, 2014. The Greek athlete did not have a good start but she managed to finish first at 7:33.120. Marie-Anne Frenken from The Netherlands finished second, followed by German Leoni Pless who took the third place. Nikolaidou also took medals at both the senior and under-23 level last year. She was named top Female Athlete of the Year at the Greek annual sports awards in 2013.
