Free Internet for Social Dividend Beneficiaries

The Greek Ministry of Infrastructure is offering social dividend recipients 12 months of free internet access, as well as training on how to use computers. The ministry’s decision was announced on Wednesday by the General Secretary of Telecommunications-Post and Digital Convergence, Menelaos Daskalakis.  The initiative will start in July and concerns families and households entitled to receive the social dividend benefit in 8 areas of Greece: Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Epirus, Thessaly, Ionian Islands, Western Greece, the Peloponnese, Crete and North Aegean. With a “Digital Solidarity” coupon, which will be exchanged in any of the companies cooperating with the ministry, the recipients will have the opportunity: -To acquire or maintain internet connection for 12 months -To obtain basic equipment for Internet access and familiarity with (PC or Tablet) -To receive training on the basic use of PC and the Internet, by certified instructors of information technologies and communications.
