Buena Vista Social Club Adios Tour in Greece
Buena Vista Social Club, the eldest music band in the world is finally going on its last tour. As part of their “Adios Tour” the band will perform all around the world for the next two years. Most of the band’s musicians have been performing and recording for over 60 years. Fifteen years ago, they were discovered by Wim Wenders, a famous German director who made a documentary about the band entitled “Buena Vista Social Club” in 1999. Many notable members of the group have now passed away, and that is the reason that the remaining members have decided to end their musical career on their own terms. Their “Adios Tour” will begin on June 25 in Prague, while in July the group will travel all around Europe performing in various countries. On July 5, they are scheduled to perform in Thessaloniki, at Dassous Theater, on July 7 at Klisto Neapolis in Larissa and on July 8 they will conclude their tour within Greece with a performance in Petras Theather, Athens. On April 5, 2015, the music band will restart the tour in London’s Royal Albert Hall. The band’s female lead singer, Omara Portuondo, said the goodbye would not to be true, during an interview in Suenacubano. She noted that as a group they are planning on continuing to exchange culture and love. “We will always defend Cuban music and the music of the world,” she said.
