Athens International Airport Best in Europe

Athens International Airport, “Eleftherios Venizelos”, was awarded by Airports Council International-Europe (ACI) as “Europe’s Best Airport for 2014″ in the 10-25 million passenger category.  The Greek airport was distinguished for “its high economic performance in a very challenging context, its excellent work in re-developing its traffic base, while keeping a strong focus on the quality of services.” The CEO of Athens International Airport, Yannis Paraschis, said: “It is higly important that prestigious international bodies place the international airport of Athens at the top of Europe, at such a difficult time for our country. It is basically a Greek success, that not only demonstrates the high level of our services, but also reflects our commitment and contribution to the recovery of Greece.” In 2013, ACI-Europe had honored Athens International Airport with the “Eco-Innovation Award” for its innovative initiatives and actions on issues related to environmental protection.
