Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis hold on to his seat in the 2014 Greek municipal elections leaving behind SYRIZA’s candidate, Gavriil Sakellaridis. Sakellaridis congratulated Kaminis late Sunday night after the results put Kaminis at 51.6 percent compared to 48.4 percent for Sakellaridis – with the 61 percent of the votes counted. Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris just won another term after receiving 58 percent of votes compared to 41.9 percent for his challenger Stavros Kalafatis, who was supported by the ruling New Democracy Party.
