Greeks Prefer Smaller, Cheaper Cars

Diesel cars have soared in popularity since Greek buyers seem to prefer smaller and cheaper cars. A survey conducted by the Greek Association of Motor Vehicles Importers (AMVI) showed that nine out of ten cars, bought by the end of May 2014, did not exceed 1,600 cc. According to these figures, nine out of ten cars also run on diesel engines. On the cars sales’ list, Toyota, Volkswagen and Open were in the first places with 2,627, 2,142 and 2,131 sales respectively. Nissan, Ford, Citroen and Fiat followed with 1,977, 1,286, 1,280 and 1,196 cars sold in 2014. Next on the list, with fewer sales, were Suzuki, Skoda, Hyundai, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Renault, Volvo, Seat, KIA Motors and Peugeot.
