Poker Legend Karas On Losing Streak
Greek-American gambling legend Archie Karas is currently facing the possibility of up to three years in prison, having apparently been caught cheating while playing blackjack at a San Diego casino. Commenting on the incident, county District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, said:
?This defendant?s luck ran out thanks to extraordinary cooperation between several different law enforcement agencies who worked together to investigate and prosecute this case.?
Archie Karas (born Anargyros Karabourniotis) is considered to have enjoyed one of the longest documented winning streak in gambling history, having turned a $50 bankroll into more than $40 million over a three year period between 1992 and 1995. Just like Nick ?The Greek? Dandolos, who is said to won and lost around $500 million ($5 billion in today?s money) over his lifetime, Archie Karas, too, succumbed to the gamblers fate and eventually blew his whole $40 million fortune over a three-week period.
