Hellenic Initiative Raises $1.9M to Benefit Greece (Update)
NEW YORK ? The Inaugural Banquet of The Hellenic Initiative that was held at the elegant domed structure with Grecian architectural touches at 583 Park Avenue in Manhattan on Oct. 3 with the theme ?Investing in the Future of Greece? was unlike any the Greek-American Banquet of recent memory.
To begin with, the keynote speech of former president Bill Clinton gave it unparalleled cachet. More importantly, $1.9 million was raised in advance to assist Greece, but the event?s outstanding and enduring quality, however, was the spirit of solidarity with the people of Greece that prevailed, and the powerful feeling that with the help of those present and the rest of the Hellenic Diaspora, the homeland will overcome its current crisis and rise to new heights.
