Greece, Albania (Technically) Still at War
Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati called on his Greek counterpart Evangelos Venizelos to abolish a World War II-era law that technically has left the two countries at war.
Greece should scrap a law dating back to 1940 so that the Albanian Cham minority who were expelled by Athens during World War II can claim back confiscated property, Bushati said at a joint conference with Venizelos.
He said that the scrapping of the war legislation ?would allow the vindication of denied property rights in accordance with international law?.
?We have the political will and will invest the necessary human and professional capital to address inherited historical and current issues,? he added.
