FOTOGRAFIA: The Sun Sets on Athens
Sometimes it's difficult to remember during the crushing economic crisis in Greece that there are still places where you can go to forget about it all, if only for a little while, and see a reminder of what the country used to be.
Athens, it must be said, is not a charming city and it makes you wince to look at drawings of what it looked like during the glory days when the Parthenon was being built, and even its neo-classical period and then see the descent into dirty, grey concrete graffiti-ridden buildings which abound everywhere.
There's little public art, almost no grass and few places where you can find serenity. But you can, if only a bit, atop Lycabettus, a 909-foot high hill where you can grab a view of the city, best done at dusk when the grime is covered. It's the highest point in a city going through some low times.
